On Friday 20th September, Sibbalds took to Bear Grylls Adventure at Birmingham Resorts World for our long-awaited away day as a result of achieving our internal targets for the 2024 financial year.
On arrival we were all presented with some new Sibbalds merchandise including hoodies, notebooks and pens, which you may be able to spot in some of the photos for a sneak peak at our soon to be revealed new logo and branding. Unfortunately we missed the opportunity to get a group photo of everyone wearing their hoodies!
The day started with a Sibbalds Olympics where five teams battled it out to be crowned Gold Medallists of 57 Ashbourne Road. The Event started with a controversial 3-legged relay race, followed by an interesting, blindfolded egg and spoon race and finished off with a bean bag toss, where double points were up for grabs. There was an intense game of rock, paper, scissors to decide on our silver medallists but this didn’t take any attention away from the gold medallists who took the competition by storm, having confirmed their top spot by the 2nd event.
Once our heart rates had returned to normal, we grabbed some refreshments and took our seats to enjoy a brilliant presentation, delivered by David, Hari & Jay, reflecting on the last financial year. We celebrated our wins and acknowledged our losses before delving in to a group exercise to discuss our goals and suggestions for the upcoming year.
However, our day didn’t end there. After a well-earned lunch break, we sorted ourselves into our groups and took part in various activities at Bear Grylls Adventure such as: Archery, Climbing, Shooting, High Ropes & an Escape Room. It should be noted that we did all manage to escape with plenty of time to spare! We learnt that a lot of the team were natural Archers, Natalia Kruk was even offered a job as an Archery Instructor after scoring a whopping 41 points. We also learnt that some of the team should put down the Bow & Arrows and stick to a Keyboard and Mouse.
The day ended with a delicious meal at the Vietnamese Street Kitchen where the team reflected on the day, discussed some questionable scoring at the Sibbalds Olympics, learnt how to use Chopsticks and much more, but mostly enjoyed each other’s company. After the meal, a trip to a bar or two was had and then for those that wanted to stay the night, Sibbalds organised rooms at a hotel at the Resort to rest their weary heads!
It was great to have the whole team together for the first time since our last event back in 2022. Watch this space for more exciting news about the team and the future of Sibbalds…
