Terry Grant and his wife, Jane were pleased to attend the official opening of Sibbalds client, Mount Cook Adventure Centre in Wirksworth on Sunday. The event was attended by over 250 guests including councillors, shareholders, local schools and youth groups.
The opening marks an exciting year as the Mount Cook team prepares for the arrival of residential groups from the National Citizen Service, the Prince’s Trust, Scouts and local school groups. The centre, founded by Colin Adams and Robin Sibson, is part of a not-for-profit organisation with a mission to provide access to the outdoors and outdoor activities for all, especially young people and those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to access them.
The eco-friendly centre can sleep up to 140 guests with wheelchair access, an indoor climbing wall, on-site high-ropes course and a 10m high rooftop terrace, The centre also provides a wide range of activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, caving, orienteering and high ropes and draws inspiration from the surrounding rural landscapes, encouraging visitors to explore the natural environment and learn about local history and heritage.
