With the 6 latest recruits at Sibbalds Ltd all being women, the company is proud to be supporting International Women’s Day #IWD2020 and to play their part in encouraging an #EachforEqual philosophy. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality.
We’ve taken a little time out to talk to some of the team to find out what they love about their roles, who has inspired them, what pieces of great career advice they have received and what they are passionate about.
One of the best parts of my role is …
Julie (Senior Bookkeeper) – I love the team that I am working with. Amazing team to work with, always helping each other out to enable us to deliver our clients the best possible service.
Siobhan Stammers (Audit Executive) – being able to frequently meet new people and have the exposure to a variety of businesses within different sectors.
Holly (Reception Administrator) – getting to meet new people who are all on different paths through life.
Laura (Bookkeeper) – Teamwork! Working Together! Variety and challenges!
Jo (Assistant Client Relationship Manager) – Meeting with clients and listening to what their business goals are, and doing all I can to help them achieve them. It’s great to see clients that have so much passion and enthusiasm for what they do and I hope they look at me and feel the same.
Sara (Business Improvement Manager) – working alongside and in collaboration with a great team of women.
The most inspiring woman I know is …
Siobhan – My mum is the most inspiring woman I know. She has taught me numerous lessons over the years and ultimately shown me that hard work does pay off and to never quit at the first hurdle.
Holly – My mum, of course!
Laura – Someone I don’t know but who I find is inspiring is Emmeline Pankhurst!
Sara – My fearless, passionate daughter whom I have had the privilege of watching grow into a strong, independent woman.
Jo – My own Mum. It’s good to know that she is there whenever I need her, without fail. She has taught me how to be strong and to keep on going when life throws you a curve-ball.
The best piece of career advice I’ve ever had was …
Laura – Never be afraid to admit mistakes!
Siobhan – Know what you want to achieve and do not let anybody stop you from achieving it.
Holly – To make myself irreplaceable.
Jo – Have confidence in yourself. I am guilty of always second guessing myself and worrying that my work isn’t good enough. But actually, the people around me think I’m not too bad.
Sara – Be prepared to work twice as hard for half the reward and keep smiling.
I’m really passionate about …
Julie – Looking after our team at work and ensuring that our clients get the best possible service.
Laura – Helping clients and providing a good service
Siobhan – Being a role model for the future generation and doing all I can do to support them in chasing their dreams.
Jo – Being organised. I have become more passionate about this since becoming a mum! Being organised at work helps to keep the stress levels down and at home helps to keep tantrums to a minimum … from my 3 year old, not my work colleagues! 🙂
Holly – Football and helping others.
Sara – Inspiring people to believe anything is possible.
