I originally joined Sibbalds as a trainee accountant. I left to gain a wider variety of audit related experience and work with different firms of varying sizes and across many sectors and industries. I re-joined Sibbalds in 2018 as their Audit Manager and bring with me a wealth of knowledge and experience that I can use to benefit its clients.
Qualifications and Experience
I originally trained as an Accounting Technician and I am now a Chartered Certified Accountant. During my time away form Sibbalds, I worked for a number of prominent local firms including a large firm with a nationwide presence. I specialise in construction and manufacturing companies but have a wide variety of experience of differing entities, such as schools, colleges, local charities and FCA registered firms.
What I enjoy most about the role
I really enjoy seeing businesses that have developed from their start up phase into their growth phase and providing them with tools and advice to make their plans successful, suggesting ideas to assist them in their goals. My extensive experience allows me to share my experiences of best practice in business processes and controls as well as helping them identify potential business risks and develop strategies for mitigating these and coping with the many changes a business will face.
I also enjoy challenging preconceived perceptions of what an auditor does. My aim is not just to ensure those financial statements are reliable but also to add value to the business being reviewed.
Things I enjoy doing outside of Sibbalds
I love cars and anything motor sport related. I enjoy watching the Formula One and I am a member of a car enthusiasts club. Through this club, I attend car shows and track days – I have even helped run some myself.
I also have a dog my husband and I adopted from a rescue charity, we love taking her on long walks in our wonderful countryside.
Something you might not know about me
When I was 11, I was a member of a school choir. We performed at the Derby Cathedral in a regional competition and won. I am sure anyone who hears me sing now would find that rather surprising.
