Last week we held an extremely positive meeting with Professor Richard Hall, who is Director of the Institute for Innovation in Sustainable Engineering (IISE) initiative at the University of Derby. For those of you who may not know, the IISE is the University’s latest investment to support advanced manufacturing within Derby, which will see industrial partners of the University working alongside the IISE to achieve cutting edge solutions through research and development. The scheme caught our eye due its ethos of assisting in the advancement of manufacturing and engineering businesses in the City of Derby, for which we are so passionate.
Performing activities such as innovation, research and development, knowledge transfer partnerships, and commercialisation, the IISE will also feed into postgraduate and professional programmes and introduce practical innovation into the curriculum of Derby University students.
We are very pleased to announce that on the back of our meeting with Professor Hall, we too are getting involved in the initiative, and will be collaborating with the IISE to offer advice and assistance on business plans, R&D tax credits, forecasting and cash flow projections, tax advice, compliance work and specific business queries. Together with Swindle & Pearson’s support on Intellectual Property Protection, we believe that this now helps complete the jigsaw of support required by engineering firms to ensure their best chance of success.
