It is great to see that the city of Derby has been positively reported in the press recently – there is so much happening in the city in the face of economic adversity; highly encouraging.
We recently read an article in the Derby Telegraph that showed the independent think tank ‘The Centre for Cities Outlook 2013’ cites Derby within the top 10 cities in the UK for innovation. In fact Derby has been ranked sixth out of 64 towns and cities!
The statistic was complied by looking at the number of patents registered per 100,000 residents and Derby averages eight per 100,000 residents.
This accolade follows recent news that unlike other cities (such as our neighbour Nottingham), Derby’s economy has not changed much between the start of the economic downturn in 2008 and recently in 2012. This means Derby is managing to face the economic gloom and look at innovative ways to counteract the negativity in the economy.
This positive reported news is great for the city and we hope the people and businesses of Derby continue to achieve throughout 2013. Here’s to more positive news very soon.
