Having obtained a first class honours degree in accounting and finance at Nottingham, Ian joined R J Weston and Co in St Marys Gate as an articled clerk in 1979. When R J Weston merged with Bates Foston to form Bates Weston, Ian continued to work as a manager in the enlarged practice until 1996. At this time he left with one of the partners to form a new practice in Friargate which was subsequently acquired by Sibbalds in 1999.

Ian’s main aim is to establish a strong and efficient working relationship with the clients with whom he deals, which is reflected by the fact that he still acts for  a large number of the clients which he came into contact with when he first entered the profession.

Ian enjoys travelling with his family and sampling cuisine from various countries, but sadly does not enjoy the exercise which should accompany this, preferring to leave the exercise to the younger family members.
